Tewa always strives to engage local people, its partners and supporters through various fundraising events. By promoting and encouraging local fundraising events and campaigns, it not only supports our grant programs but also provide a platform for our diverse partners, allies to come together. Tree plantation is one of our local fundraising events initiated in 2008. Tewa has been planting saplings in different areas of Lalitpur and Kathmandu Districts every monsoon. This year the plantation was done in the beautiful place that lies in the north of Kathmandu in Tarkeshwor municipality which is located about 5 kilometers from Balaju, Ringroad. Most of our tree plantation event is organized in coordination with our grantee partners.

This year Sirjanshil Mahila Samaj, an organization based in Tarkeshwor voluntarily coordinated with us to take the lead for the event and managing it in local level. The event took place on 10th August, 2019 in presence of more than 200 people comprising of Board & General Members, staff, volunteers, Donors, grantee partners and local level community people. It is our 11th year in organizing this event and the number of crowd increases every year.

The program started with formal introduction about the program and Tewa to the participants by our current Chair, Nirmala K.C. PhD. Our supporters from Daya Foundation and Prakriti Resource Centre also gave their few words on the reason for supporting Tewa, promoting the philanthropic deeds and the need for us to conserve the environment we live in. The chair of Tarkeshwor municipality also expressed his few words and thanked Tewa for this initiative in the area.
