Community Safety Net and Feminist Movement Building

 

Tewa initiated the Community Safety Net and Feminist Movement Building (CSN-FMB) Project under the visionary leadership of Founder Rita Thapa

 

Phase IOctober 2021February 2023, the project operated across 21 districts of all 7 provinces.

 

Reach & Impact

Spanning 21 districts (Ilam, Sunsari, Okhaldhunga, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Bara, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Lamjung, Baglung, Gorkha, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Banke, Surkhet, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Dadeldhura), the initiative strengthened the CSN network, enhancing collaboration among Tewa grantee partners. Enhanced Coordination & Communication – Strengthened networks at the district level, enabling faster response to community needs.

  • Proactive Community Engagement – Ensured timely identification and resolution of local issues through active outreach.
  • Emergency Fund Establishment – Created a safety net for crisis situations, providing crucial support during natural disasters and emergencies.
  • Increased Local Government Support – Some districts saw budget allocations from local authorities to sustain the CSN network.
  • Expert Consultation Sessions – Held across all 21 districts to provide knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and empowerment for local communities.
  • To address gender based violence, an immediate response during a crisis.

These achievements highlight the power of community-led initiatives in fostering resilience and positive change at the grassroots level.

Phase II: Expanding the Movement

Building on the success of Phase I, Phase II -Nov 2023- Dec 2026.

  • Ensured continuous collaboration and knowledge-sharing among partner organisations.
  • Knowledge-Building Sessions – Strengthened community awareness on critical social issues.
  • Public Hearings  – Provided a platform for local communities to voice concerns and seek solutions.
  • Entrepreneurship Orientations – Equipped participants with the skills needed for economic self-reliance.
  • Advocacy & Capacity Building

By strengthening local networks, fostering leadership, and advocating for systemic change, this initiative continues to pave the way for a more just and equitable society.
